what is Chi?
chi is an energy that works from within. it is a force that lies beyond biological function of all living tissues. it flows through channels and meridians in the body and is unaffected by external factors or limitations (such as space and time) regulation and management of chi allows it to circulate around the body more easily and brings benefits to health. disruption of chi through substances or actions can lead to illness and death. on the other hand, a balance of chi leads to good health. this is where the theory of yin and yang comes in. there is a natural flowing oscillation of energy flowing around the body which maintains equilibrium and balance of energy. so, the balance of mind, body and spirit is essential to mandkinds self being. external factors can cause an imbalance of yin and yang, leading to blockages. it is tai chi that addresses imbalances before they develop into illnesses. tai chi is the key to unblocking these channels and balancing the chi, whilst invigorating your mind and your body. by carrying out tai chi, you are moving chi towards the centre of the body into a different form of energy. when you start to practise tai chi, your body can respond to this increasing concentration of energy by shaking and trembling. over time, this will not occur through the regular practise of chi kung (qi gong) which is meditation and breath energy. this developes your power, concentration and focus. we will be concentrating on the yang form which promotes on health and meditation.
